I have seen this series several times on TV, but don't seek it out, as it's usually up against other shows I follow. I've always thought that it was a cute show, and could appreciate the geek humor being very much a geek myself.
I recently got Season 1 disk 1 from Netflix, which had the first 6 episodes of this series. My mom and I watched all six episodes in one night, and were constantly cracking up throughout the evening. My dad kept commenting on how much we were laughing.
As a scientist and a self-proclaimed geek, I truly appreciate the humor involved, probably more than some others. The next disk coming my way will be Season 1 disk 2, and I am eagerly anticipating its arrival.

The Lucifer books are a series of graphic novels based on a character from the Sandman comic/graphic novel series. The books were very visually stimulating, and the story line was OK. As a woman, I can definitely appreciate Lucifer's appearance, especially when he has wings. Evidently, his appearance was based on David Bowie, and you can definitely see that.

The Cleaner

This show stars Benjamin Bratt as William Banks, a man who feels that he has had a calling from God to help people get sober after he cleaned up his own life. He is surrounded by a group of other former users, several of whom he helped get clean, who now help him help others.
I have enjoyed this show since the first episode last year. I know other A&E shows have received critical acclaim, and I feel this one should receive more than it does. Perhaps this show does not receive much critical notice due to the nature of the story line. I think this show is produced very well, and the acting is excellent. The supporting cast has been seen in many other shows, including Sci Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica and various family movies. The series also gets an amazing array of well-known guest stars.
While the stories are dark, worse things can be seen on the nightly news. It also deals with everyday issues, such as separation and divorce, family fights, and teenage/parental arguments. I highly recommend people check this show out at least once.

Charlie Bartlett
This movie is about a teenage boy from a dysfunctional family that attends public school after being expelled from yet another private school. In order to make friends in his new environment, he begins holding therapy sessions in a school bathroom and providing prescriptions to treat various mental disorders. He eventually admits to boyh himself and others that he is only a kid and not able to adequately deal with his own problems let alone those of others.
I was greatly looking forward to this movie, and it did not disappoint. Anton Yelchin did a lovely job portraying Charlie. He was able to get across the struggles of living a priveliged teenage life without becoming obnoxious like some real life wealthy teenagers. Kat Dennings was once again wonderful, although she seems to always play the same character, and that seems to be closely related to herself. Robert Downey Jr. had another excellent performance, and I wish he had more screen time.

This is a novel in the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris, also known as the Sookie Stackhouse series. This series was recent adapted for HBO into the series True Blood.
I had been wanting to start watching True Blood, and have the first season on my Netflix queue, but decided that I wanted to read the books, at least the first in the series, prior to viewing.
I enjoyed this book. I wouldn't call it one of my favorite books, or even one of the best vampire novels I've read, but it kept my interest and had a good story line. I look forward to reading teh rest of the series, which I have already requested from the library.

Wild America
This film, released in 1997, is based on the true story of the creator of the Wild America television show. It stars several former teen idols who have since pretty much dropped off into obscurity.
I'm generally a fan of movies based on real life, and this was no exception. This story of three brothers was exciting with both beautiful scenes as well as peril which had me gasping. It showed the determination of the oldest brother, and the confusion yet enthusiasm of the middle brother. The youngest brother was involved in getting many of the best and most dangerous film clips of the movie. It is no wonder that he went on to film scenes with totally non-dangerous animals.

Beerfest
I love this movie! Now let me be objective. This is a movie by the guys of Broken Lizard, the same ones that did Super Troopers. It is about a pair of brothers that compete in a beerfest in Germany as Team USA and fail miserably. They are run out in shame, and vow to come back and win the following year. They were totally unprepared the first year because their grandfather had never told them about their legacy in the brewing business.
After they return to the states, they start compiling their team from old college friends and the like. Then they start training. Of course, they have to be proficient in all of the classic beer games, such as quarters and beer pong. They go through trials and tribulations, find out things they really didn't want to know about their family, and get really drunk.
Everyone I know loved Super Troopers. I must say that movie is growing on me, but I still don't think it's as good as everyone says. However, I loved Beerfest from the first time I saw it. I have seen it many times since, and just grow more and more fond of it. There is humor in it for everyone, and it is a very fun way to spend a few hours.
