The final episode of the season started off with Carol-Hannah feeling miserable due to her illness was and really struggling. She started off the day very upset and overwhelmed, and was getting sympathy and hugs from both Christopher and Logan. The helpers then stayed in the work room continuing with the collections while the final three went to have their hair and makeup consultations. Some of the fittings were rather stressful, but Carol-Hannah really lucked out for once this week and her fittings went fairly well. The fact that this is the first time there were three girls in the finale and it could really be seen in the workroom, in a very stereotypical way. The ladies were feeling very overwhelmed all around, and emotions were running over.
The last day started with Carol-Hannah feeling much better, and the work continued. Their last day of work finishes with a flurry and stress all around. The day of the show, the designers needed to wake up very early in order to have enough time for all of the prep work with the models, etc. They make their way to the tent where they will be showing their collections in the customary Project Runway fashion, then head back to get ready. There is a huge time crunch, and even Tim Gunn flies off the handle quite a bit backstage. Even with two minutes left to go and the audience seated, models were still getting dressed, but everything comes together at the last minute.
Althea was first to present her collection. She explained her inspiration as Sci Fi movies of the 1950's and 1960's, and that she was presenting a take on what the modern woman would wear in a future scenario. I didn't see her inspiration in many of her pieces, and the construction on her final dress, which fit like a glove, was quite poor as it puckered where it wasn't supposed to.
Carol-Hannah was up next, looking fabulous and presenting a beautiful line. So many of her pieces could be worn by women of many shapes and sizes, which was really nice to see. Even the outfit she was wearing fit really well with her collection.
Irina explained how her collection was inspired by New York itself, as home is where the heart is. I likes the way her clothes looked going better than coming down the runway, because the backs were very detailed and flattering. I could have lost the hats, but her collection was very good and very detailed.
Of the three, I liked Althea's collection the least. I really like the wearability of Carol-Hannah's line, but Irina's was stunning. The judges commended how well finished Irina's line was, but disliked that the whole line was black. Carol-Hannah's line was respected for structured draping, but Heidi commented that the collection didn't really flow well. The judges questioned that Althea's inspiration didn't quite come through in several of her pieces, but were very excited by the separates and sportswear.
Carol-Hannah was the first to be declared out, which was a tad disappointing that she was out first. Irina won this season, and rightfully so. She has consistently been the best throughout the season, and put together a very detailed and cohesive collection. Obviously, Althea was then out. The right person won this season, based not only on her collection but on the season as a whole.

This was the first part of the two-part finale, where we got to see the start of the top three's collections as Tim Gunn went to their homes. Irina did run into a problem with a main part of her collection. She was originally going to use T-shirts with pictures of Coney Island under a more tailored outer design. Unfortunately for her, the pictures were copyrighted and not available for use. This really stressed her out because now she had to rethink her whole line.
Then all of the designers headed back to New York about 7 days before fashion week. While sitting around in their rooms, Althea and Irina find out that Carol-Hannah is very sick and wouldn't be coming in that day. She did come in the next day, but still felt pretty awful. Everyone got down to fitting their models and working on their collections when a surprise was thrown their way: they had to create another look that fit in with the feel of their remaining collection. But they would not be alone. The last three designers eliminated from the competition were brought back and randomly chosen to work with the remaining contestants. The six headed off to mood with $150 and gathered their supplies, and their main models picked the girls for the 13th look. Back to work, then on to home. But once back in their rooms, Carol-Hannah's illness returns with a vengeance and she's not sure if she can go on with Fashion Week. And that is the cliff hanger we were left with leading into the season finale.
One unusual thing that happened was that Michael Kors and Nina Garcia met with the designers to provide them with advice regarding putting on a runway show. Ideas included how best to set up a line presentation, with some basic ideas like start big, end big.
10 words or less: I really hope Carol-Hannah can continue. She's my favorite.

This was the final challenge for the designers before moving on to Fashion Week at Bryant Park. The contestants were taken to The Getty Museum to find inspiration in anything they found there. Althea was inspired by the architecture of the museum, while Irina chose a painting by Rubens. Gordana was moved by a Monet which reminded her of Europe and made her miss home. Carol-Hannah and her model were both completely enamored by a European history room, particularly a 17th century bed. Christopher felt that he chose the most unusual inspiration in a fountain on the grounds, with grey stones and places of green algae.
It was determined that all of the designs were great work this challenge, even though the designers had a critical eye toward each dress. Christopher was eliminated based on the judges feeling that he needed more experience and advised him to continue working hard because he had much potential. The judges advised that Gordana had some construction issues in her dress during this challenge, but I though it was beautiful. Althea was deemed to have a mess of a dress, but the judges were impressed by the risks she took and the complexity of her designs. In the end, Gordana was eliminated, leaving Carol-Hannah, Irina, and Althea moving on toward Fashion Week.

This week, the designers started out waiting for Heidi with their backs facing the runway. When she approaches, they are allowed to turn around and are surprised by seeing their best looks from the season. Their task is to create a companion look to their first piece. Of the remaining designers, Logan is the only one whose best look wasn't a winning look for a challenge. However, he did note that he was happy by the look they chose for him. The designers have one day to complete this challenge.
While shopping at Mood, Irina spent quite a bit of time standing at the counter having already checked out while the other contestants continued to scramble around the store. Logan had an interesting concept to expand on his zippers from his first look. Therefore, he bought 40 zippers, and said that the outfit would be very much metal and trim.
There was lots of griping and bitching this week in the workroom and about other people's designs as they came down the runway. As there were only 6 people left, the judges talked to everyone. The preferred looks were from Irina, Carol-Hannah, and Althea, while those who were had the least-fabulous looks were Logan, Christopher, and Gordana. The judges also seemed to really rip apart the outfits tonight that they didn't like, sounding really petty. Just because they didn't agree with the designer's concept doesn't mean that other people wouldn't. Althea won this competition, and Irina was thoroughly pissed because she swears that the sweater idea was copied. Logan and Gordana were the bottom two, with Logan being asked to leave.
10 words or less: All the hotness just went out the door with Logan.

This week, the designers had one day to complete a Michael Kors challenge. Kors provided the contestants with pictures and descriptions of some of the locations that have inspired his designes in the past. The designers had to create works inspired by the locations provided. Irina chose Aspen, Gordana had Park Avenue in New York, while Althea picked St. Tropez. Carol-Hannah was able to grab Palm Beach, while Christopher chose Santa Fe, Nicolas picked Greece, and Logan got stuck with Hollywood.
On the runway, Irina, Gordana, and Carol-Hannah were the judges' favorites. They praised Gordana's high end style, particularly the intricate beaded necklace that was removable to wear with other outfits. Carol-Hannah really captured the essence of Palm Beach, with her patterned flowing dress and the twist and braid details that really added some pop. Irina created a three piece ensemble that had fitted pants inspired by ski pants, a belted sweater with a large cowl neck, and a faux fur vest that totally captured the style of an Aspen ski lodge. The least favorites of the night included Christopher's Santa Fe-inspired outfits, as the colors were deemed to be not vivid enough and the pieces were out of proportion. Logan's was acceptable, but was said to be rather boring. He chose to make a casual T-shirt and skinny jeans for a young, hot actress. The judges thought it was OK, but thought he could have been much more creative. Nicolas's design appeared to have absolutely nothing to do with Greece.
Irina won the challenge yet again, but her design was truly inspired and really captured the essence of her location. Logan was safe, so Christopher and Nicolas were in the bottom two. Nicolas was sent home, with Christopher surviving the bottom two for yet another week.
While I do think Christopher should have been sent home weeks ago, Nicolas has annoyed me from the very beginning. Christopher certainly deserved to be sent home, but I am definitely not upset that Nicolas was sent home.
10 words or less: Good riddance, Nicolas.

This week, with only 4 weeks until the finale, the designers find themselves competing with no more opportunities for immunity for the rest of the season. The designers go to find Tim Gunn and find him with Bob Mackie. Now, I don't know much about fashion, but I know who Bob Mackie is. The designers needed to create a dramatic stage look in the style of Bob Mackie for Christina Aguilera. The designers were also relieved to hear that they had $300 and two days for this challenge.
On the runway, Irina was safe with her lingerie look, and Gordana was saved due solely to her immunity. Carol-Hannah was complimented for her black on black dress, while Shirin's black and white dress was called very witch-like. Althea was praised on her long-trained silver dress, and Christopher was criticized for poor construction and having seen the look before. Nicolas presented a white, feathery dress (but in my opinion much too similar to his past designs), while Logan's zebra print was called cavewoman and safe.
The designers with preferred outfits were Nicolas, Carol-Hannah, and Althea. Those with the least-favorite dresses were Shirin, Christopher, and Logan. In the end, Carol-Hannah won the challenge, while Shirin was sent home.

Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy
View Date: 10/1/09
This Lifetime movie was about a young, professional woman who discovers that, at age 27, she has breast cancer. After obtaining several opinions, she decides that she will undergo a full mastectomy with reconstruction. She chooses to wear red lipstick to her surgery as a sign of strength and empowerment, and it helps her get through the tough times of her upcoming fight against cancer.
I enjoyed this movie, even though I cried throughout most of the second half. I thought the acting was quite good for being a made-for-TV movie, and it really made me feel for the characters. I was able to relate to the situations presented, even though I have never been through cancer myself. If you want a heartwrenching story that is full of strength and courage, this movie is for you.

The challenge for this episode was to redesign wedding dresses for a group of divorced women who want to change their wedding dresses to something for their new lives as single women. Irina got to choose of her client first, with the other designers choosing randomly. The ladies with the largest dresses were generally chosen first. This was to be the last immunity challenge, and they had one day to complete the design. Additionally, at Mood, the contestants could only purchase 2 yards of fabric, then anything else needed for their design.
One of the issues many of the designers encountered was poor quality fabric. Shirin seemed to have the most problems, being that she had the least fabric (she didn't get to choose her dress) and the most flamboyant client who had some rather outlandish ideas.
Side note: I think this was the first time I've ever seen Heidi wear pants.
The favorite designs for this challenge were those of Shirin, Irina, and Gordana, while the least favorite dresses were those of Epperson, Christopher, and Logan. Gordana rightfully won this challenge with an absolutely rocking dress. Coming down to Logan and Epperson, Epperson was sent home, which probably has been coming for several weeks now.

In this episode, the designers were to create looks in the color blue that would work with Macy's new INC line. The winner would then be commissioned to create a holiday dress to be sold at Macy's. The designers were to be working in teams. They all sketched their ideas, and the representative from Macy's chose her five favorite designers, who then became team leaders. Those designers chose their teammates. The team leaders were Althea, Carol-Hannah, Irina, Christopher, and Louise. This was also a 1 day challenge, and no immunity would be awarded to the winner. Additionally, more than one designer may be eliminated during this challenge.
Althea and Logan went immediately through to the next round. Louise/Nicolas and Christopher/Epperson had the lowest scores, while Carol-Hannah/Shirin and Irina/Gordana had the highest scores. Irina won the challenge particularly for her patterned dress, and will be designing a dress to be sold at Macy's. It came down to Louise and Christopher for elimination, and Louise was the only one eliminated.

This week's competition has the remaining designers traveling to a movie sound stage to find out about their next challenge. Once they arrived, they had to pick a movie genre and design an outfit and a character that fits the movie type. Irina, as the winner of last week's challenge, got to choose first, followed by each of the other designers randomly. Western was the least-desired genre. Other options included Science Fiction, Period Piece, Film Noir, and Action/Adventure. This was a 1-day challenge for the designers, which stressed them out considerably.
Runway day came, and some of the designers were way more stressed than others. Irina had Film Noir, as did Althea and Louise. Carol-Hannah and Logan both had Action/Adventure, while Shiri and Epperson wound up with Western, Christopher and Gordana created for Period Piece, while Ra'mon and Nicolas had Science Fiction as their genre.
The top designers of the night included Christopher, Nicolas, and Epperson, while the bottom three designers were Gordana, Louise, and Ra'mon. Nicolas won the challenge with an ice queen dress, and won immunity for the next challenge. It came down to Ra'mon and Louise, with Ra'mon leaving.
I'm a bit surprised this season that I don't have a clear-cut favorite, whereas I had my favorites picked out by the end of the second episode last time. I do have people that I definitely want to see go home, but no one that I'm really rooting for. Ra'mon would probably be the closest, and Logan just because he's absolutely hot.

This week, the designers had to create classy, high-brow designs literally out of paper, newspapers to be exact. Some people had excellent designs, including the winning design reminiscent of a Chanel coat. I particularly liked the feathered skirt look. The losing designs were really pretty bad. Johnny deserved to go home, and thankfully the judges thought so too.
The other big event of the show was Johnny’s lie. After receiving his review from Tim Gunn, saying it looked too much like an arts and crafts project, he completely scrapped his dress. He then proceeded to make an even sloppier dress, and blamed his lack of time to complete it on a “sputtering steam iron”. His ruse was disputed by everyone, including the judges, and even came out during the Q&A session on the runway. Personally, I think he just couldn’t take the criticism and gave up, then was mad at himself and tried covering his tracks. Either way, he was sent home, so no more Johnny.

Designers: Qristyl, Nicolas, Irina, Gordana, Shirin, Logan, Christopher, Epperson, Johnny, Althea, Louise, Ra'mon, Carol Hannah
Tonight, the designers were given the challenge of creating fashions for their models (as clients) that was eye-catching and suitable for a model/industry event. This is also the designers' first one-day challenge. Time was definitely a major factor in this challenge.
Side note: Logan is one sexy beast. I can look at him all day long.
The judges were a little surprising tonight, as Heidi was the only familiar face. The others were all guests from the industry. The best and worst designs of the day belong to Carol Hannah, Logan, Epperson, Johnny, Qristyl, and Althea. Tops tonight was Althea, who received immunity for the next challenge as usual. Knocked out tonight was Qristyl, who produced a very plain and boring black dress.
10 words or less: Way too close a call for Logan.

Designers: Qristyl, Epperson, Johnny, Irina, Mitchell, Ra'mon, Shirin, Carol Hannah, Althea, Louise, Nicolas, Gordana, Logan, Christopher
Challenge: With Shirin's win last episode, she had immunity for tonight's challenge. The designers went on a field trip to the beach where they encounter Tim Gunn wearing flip-flops with his suit. The designers were instructed to create a fun and fashionable sun and surfware challenge. It was then announced that the designers were to work in pairs, and 7 team captains were chosen. Shirin chose Carol Hannah, Logan chose Christopher, Nicolas chose Gordana, Mitchell chose Ra'mon, Althea chose Louise, Qristyl chose Epperson, and Johnny wound up with Irina. The designers then had the opportunity to talk with various surfer girls to get their input. The teams had $50 and 15 minutes to shop for their supplies.
Tim came in later that night with a message from Heidi and the judges that each team had to create a second look. The second look had to be an avant garde look that goes with the surfware design, and both will be shown. They will get to go back to the store the next day with a $200 budget and 20 minutes, but only one team member will be going.
Mitchell/Ra'mon and Johnny/Irina were the top two teams. The low scores went to the teams of Qristyl/Epperson and Nicolas/Gordana. Yay, Ra'mon won, even with Mitchell as a detriment. With the win, he also gets immunity for the next challenge. Mitchell was eliminated, and rightfully so being that he didn't do any work.

Challenge: The designers were given the challenge to design a chic pregnancy look for Rebecca Romijn. (This season was filmed almost a year ago. It is pretty obvious in this episode because out beautiful guest judge gave birth to her twins in December 2008.)
Chris won the challenge in the last episode, so he has immunity this time. The design could be designed for any type of event, and Rebecca's only real request was that it have a beautiful, form-fitting silhouette that would accentuate her female shape. The designers also have a $100 budget for this challenge.
Filling in for Michael Kors this week was Monique Lhullier. All of the judges this week have been pregnant, so they all have a unique perspective for this challenge. The top three were Louise, Althea,m and Shirin. The bottom three were Ra'mon, Malvin, and Mitchell. In the end, Shirin won the challenge and with it immunity. Malvin was sent packing, losing yet another really “out there” designer.

Designers: Ra'mon, Logan, Johnny, Gordana, Malvin, Carol Hannah, Qristal, Shirin, Nicolas, Mitchell, Christopher, Ari, Althea, Irina, Louise, Epperson
Tonight is the start of the new season, and the series not only movie to a new network (Lifetime), but also moved the setting from New York to LA. The first challenge started at the red carpet of the Emmy awards. The first challenge was to create a red carpet look that demonstrates innovation and represents who they are as a designer. The designers were not to limit themselves only to the Emmys, but could choose a red carpet for any award show. Not only was the challenge for bragging rights, but the winner also wins immunity for the next challenge.
Several designers really struggled, and at least one was due to the measurements being incorrect on the model card. Some very interesting fashions came down the runway, in addition to some absolutely stunning pieces and some that made me want to wretch. I do agree with much of what the judges said and understand most of their choices.
Johnny and Ra'mon were safe, and Christopher won and scored immunity for the next challenge. This was really impressive, considering he does not have the education of the others. Qristal was safe from the bottom three, so it came down to Ari and Mitchell. Mitchell was saved, even though he presented a completely unwearable sheer design. That left Ari to be eliminated, based on a very odd silver creation and her babbling explanation of her idea.
10 words or less: I'm glad it's back, and surprising already.

Project Runway: All-Stars

Designers: Jeffrey Sebelia, Daniel Vosovic, Korto Momolu, Uli Herzner, Chris March, Mychael Knight, Sweet P Vaughn, Santino Rice
Challenge: The designers were given their challenge while having a champagne toast with Heidi and Tim. They were required to create a mini collection of three looks that represent who they are today. One of the looks must be red carpet worthy, and the designers have a budget of $1200 to work with and 45 minutes to shop. The next twist from Tim Gunn was that the red carpet look was to be designed for Nicole Kidman's upcoming movie premiere.
I must say, Santino may be more obnoxious this time around than he was originally.
Tim then announced a dinner celebration for the designers the night before the runway show, but then found some more time for them to work the next day. Turns out, the designers got an extra day to work, but they also needed to make another look. The designers were given the task to create a look using the items surrounding them in the dining room. That way, they don't forget how to create designs from unusual materials. However, 25% of the new look could come from fabrics from their previous looks.
Santino's collection was very much him. Lots of sparkle, almost everything fitting like a very tight glove. Mychael's collection was quite varied, but included many bright colors and textural design.
Uli's collection showed a very different style than what she showed us previously, not using any very bright prints and having a lot more structure. Korto used striking colors and unique shapes. Chris's designs were rather dark and used the same fabric in all of his pieces except his restaurant piece. They were probably the weakest of the night. Daniel's collection was nothing like the others, with a very athletic feel but some very poorly fitted clothes. Jeffrey used some great style techniques and fabrics for his dresses, but also showed an absolutely horrific pantsuit. Sweet P used a muted color scheme for her very feminine collection.
Mychael, Santino, Uli, and Jeffrey had the lowest scores and were dismissed first. Amazingly, Chris survived to the top four, which was a surprise even to him. The judges really liked his sportswear look, and complemented him on maturing. Daniel was commended for his red carpet look as well as his use of separates. The judges had nothing but good things to say for Korto. She continued to do what she does best: dress women to look their absolute best. Sweet P's outfits were noted to be very her, although some did look homemade.
The top two comes down to Korto and Daniel. Korto should win, but Daniel's pieces were very nice. Of course, that meant Daniel won, and Korto was delegated to second yet again. I think it might be that Korto is so incredibly consistent. Other designers have the night of their lives during a final round against her, so even though her clothes are consistently better and more well made, the other designer surprises the judges and wins.
10 words or less: Congratulations Daniel, but Korto was totally robbed.
