How I Got Into College

View Date: 7/28/09

This 80's coming-of-age movie told the tale of a mediocre student who's only goal is to follow his high school crush to college. However, he has never talked to her, and does not have the credentials to get into college.

On the other side of things, the admissions board at a small Pennsylvania college is going through changes, and is running the risk of being overtaken by an asshole. The members with higher levels of authority are focused solely on numbers and money. However, the majority of members would like to see quality students enrolled, even if they require scholarships to attend.

The two factions, students and board, meet when the main character's crush decides she wants to attend the Pennsylvania school. We then see the turmoil of applying to college, the waiting to receive the letter, and all of the other stresses involved with senior year of high school.

I thought this was a cute movie that follows the standard teen comedies of the 1980's without most of the standard actors from that time. Don't get me wrong, there were some recognizable faces, but not the most common ones. The main character was an exciting breath of fresh air.

10 words or less: Cute, light teenage comedy.
