The New Guy

This movie is a family favorite, to the point that we own it and even still watch it. It is a story of an uber-geek and his friends/bandmates as they enter their senior year of high school in Texas. However, this year, they are tired of being just “blips” on the radar and set out to change their social status. This, of course, backfires, and the main character ends up causing a scene in a mall and going to jail. There, with the help of some inmates, he changes his appearance and attitude. He switches schools (he was expelled from his previous one) and starts a new life, as a cool kid.

I love this movie. Even though I have seen it dozens of times, I still appreciate the humor. This past time, I wound up watching a special edition. It was really weird watching a new version of movie I already know so well, seeing scenes that aren't supposed to be there and how they change the whole story. Of note, there are several excellent young actors involved in this movie, including the much loved Zooey Deschanel.

10 words or less: Hilarious, raunchy teen comedy. A family favorite.
