Sick

View Date: 6/15/09

This is a documentary about a man who not only has cystic fibrosis and eventually dies from it, but also is a masochist and an artist who uses his masochism in his art. It is definitely disturbing at times, such as when you see him nail his penis to a board. There are also clips of homemade movies showing him being submissive. Some of these had me symbolically holding my crotch area in sympathetic pain.

However, it also had some hilarious parts as well. To prepare for his art showing, he prepares an invisible man doll to reflect himself with cystic fibrosis. The disease also effects other areas of the body besides the lungs, mostly with bodily fluids emerging from various orifices. This scene is sick and twisted and laugh-out-loud funny.

I probably wouldn't recommend this movie, mostly due to the very graphic nature. The production was OK, and the subject's story is interesting, but definitely not for everyone.

10 words or less: Disturbing, sad, intriguing, sometimes painful to watch, other times hilarious.
