This is a show about a town full of geniuses who work on highly classified projects, mostly for the US government. There is one "normal" person in town, the sheriff Jack Carter, who always seems to wind up saving the day. He is definitely street smart, and he uses the knowledge of the town's other inhabitants to keep the town safe.

While the show is formulaic, with a science project gone awry every episode, the humor is what sets this show apart. It is geek humor mixed with suspense, and you always want to see what kind of trouble happens each week. I have been watching this show from the beginning, and have enjoyed it immensely. Carter is surrounded by an interesting group of friends in town that he has come to rely on, but they can cause trouble of their own. He has his enemies as well, including the US government and the former head of the local research company. Even when things look hopeless, he always manages to pull through.
