Royal Pains

Air Date: Thursdays, 10pm, USA Network

This show is about two brothers who start a concierge medical practice in the Hamptons after the older brother gets fired as an ER doctor. The younger brother is a CPA who convinces the doctor to start the practice. Joining them are a local ER doctor who also plays the older brother's love interest, an a physician's assistant in whom the younger brother is smitten.

My parents first got into this show and recommended that I watch it. As it is a show this summer, I did not miss many episodes, and was able to catch most of them during a marathon event. This is a cute show, even if it is rather formulaic. There is a medical case to be solved every episode with a few underlying storylines. You are also provided with sexual tension and relationship issues.

However, it is also rather fun. There is a great deal of humor, particularly involving the younger brother. It could be classified as a dramedy, and involves mild geek humor in addition to standard brother friction humor. I have been enjoying this show, but not sure if I would choose it if another show was up against it.

10 Words or less: Cute show, but also rather formulaic.
