Contestants: Rick Moonen, Nils Noren, Lachlan Patterson, and Michael Chiarello
Quickfire Challenge: The chefs had to recreate a classic junk food as a high class dish. The chefs seemed to choose safely based on the brief intros we saw. Michael easily won the Quickfire with some fish balls.
Elimination Challenge: The chefs need to cook a miniature three course meal by themselves. They also have one of the biggest budgets I've seen for an elimination challenge in which the chefs compete individually. Rick really kicked butt in this challenge after not getting out a Quickfire dish. His menu seemed to be the most well received by the critics. Michael rightly won the right to go on to the finals round, but I'm still impressed with Rick's work.
10 words or less: In my mind, better than last week.
